You’re moving into a house with security alarms
A new house may come with an existing home security system. All the devices work, are placed in the correct places, and are ready to go. In this instance, just turn on the phone to call and establish a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to make sure there are no usability problems, and they could offer ideas on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a preliminary visit, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without worrying about any new components -- unless you add on.
The old owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer cost to make the process a snap. If the outgoing residents are downsizing to a condo or smaller home, you keeping the home security contract might be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and bring your home security devices with you
You might need to bring along your old home security components with you to your new house when you move. Luckily, it's pretty easy to accomplish, as many components are portable. You can take down each device by yourself or call a Vivint expert to dismantle the system. Then an expert will hang the same components -- and any smart items you need to add -- in your new house. And your home security contract will remain the same.
